auction in August 2009
for $600,000.

1963 saw Rodger Ward’s last ride in a Watson roadster at Indianapolis, completing an incredible
six year span of 2 wins, 2 seconds a 3rd and 4th
place finishes through ’64.

page of raceday morning newspaper.

1935 MillerFord

These cars were a true
work of art. Low slung
with great attention to
aerodynamic detail, they
were ahead of their time.

Commissioned by
Ford Motor company for
the 1935 “500”, a total of
10 were built on short

notice with little
development time.

A design flaw prevented

all that made the race
from finishing.

Ted Horn managed to complete 145 laps in
16th place.

Driven by Joe Leonard and qualified on the pole at Indianapolis in 1968.
Leading the race on lap 190 the car failed to finish.

1959 Bowes Seal Fast

This Epperly built roadster was to have been driven
by George Amick,
500 rookie of the year
from 1958. This car had a pole speed of 176.818 at Daytona before Amick’s
fatal accident.

Johnny Boyd drove this
car to a 6th place finish
at Indy.

that Louis Schneider drove
to victory in the 1931 Indianapolis 500 at an
average speed of 96 mph.

The Kline motor car company named after founder James A. Kline began in York, Pa and later from 1912-1923 in Richmond, VA.

This racing version
named “Jimmy Jr,” after Kline’s son. Powered by
one of Duesenberg’s high performance multi-valve engines it won many races on dirt and board tracks.

Leon Duray/Miller 91

1928 Indianapolis 500 pole.

Real name George Stewart but changed his legal name in admiration of fellow American/French driver Arthur Duray.
Leon Duray led the 1928 race in this car for 59 laps, retiring with overheating problems on lap 134.
